Southern Harmony and Musical Companion Platinum RIAA Award

In my effortless attempt to get rid of my Black Crowes addiction. I got the chance to buy this little beauty. An official RIAA platinum award for the selling of 1.000.000 copies of their second album Southern Harmony and Musical Companion. A true gem. Off course I don't want to kick my Black crowes habit. So I also bought a few 12" promo's :P

To beard or not to beard?

To beard or not to beard? That's seem to be the theme with the Black Crowes these days. Every one has a beard beside the guy on the keys Rob Clores. Does he have some special privileges? Did he loose a bet and has to go around town showing his hairless face? What a shame. How nude he must feel? We probably never know because of the infamous contract every musicians has to sign before being a part of the Black Crowes. A contract of silence, what happens in the Black Crowes stays in the Black Crowes.

Come to think about it, did Marc Ford leave the band because of this? Did his contract tell him he should grow a beard by the summer of 2007? Yes it's all speculation, but it could be true, right? Well above are the pics to proof that almost the whole band is wearing a beard.

Oh, I just noticed that Paul Stacey seems to has lost his beard (he used to own one). Crap! There goes my conspiracy theory. It would be nice to change their name to the Band of Funky Beards or just the Funky Beards.

Marc Ford-fuckin-tastic!

I finally had to the chance to see Marc Ford play live yesterday at the Paradiso in Amsterdam. I've enjoyed it a lot and I'm wondering why he doesn't have bigger following, because he played some mean bluesy riffs, some nasty greasy ass chops and groovy riffs. The band was tighter then I expected and I predict a nice future for his solo efforts. Because he makes honest blues based rock with a funky twist.

I admire the fact that he chose this way to be a musician. I mean he still could have played with The Black Crowes for a bigger audience and go the easy way. Instead he decided to do his own thing, don't minding the fact he doesn't play for big crowds and the, I'm just guessing, bigger paycheck. So hats off to the guy! Oh, I've also shot a few pics for you and I to admire. At the top of this article I posted the ones I like the best.

The Black Crowes Bootleg Project

The Black Crowes Bootleg Project (TBCBP) is a non profit attempt, by Black Crowes fans across the world, to create Bootleg DVD's of the best quality. All in the spirit of 'sharing the ride' for all of those who appreciate the Black Crowes and their music. The DVD's created should only be shared and traded freely amongst fans and other enthousiast and should never be sold.

I've started TBCBP with another Black Crowes fan to create dvd's with the best quality out there, comparing sources and such. So, if you want to find out what the quality is of the bootlegs I've collected over the years go here and browse the archive by year. But before you do that just now that as for now only Pro-Shot show are featured on the website and I'm not yet ready uploading all the info on all the bootlegs and sources I have.

Yesterday I found a piece of paper in my snailmail box from the postal service. The piece of paper said that they had a package for me that's to big to put in my mailbox. The package is from the USA. Since I'm only expecting one package from the USA, two pro-shot (that's what the trader said) VHS tapes of the Black Crowes with Jimmy Page. I'm glad to say that they have arrived and they are not lost in mail. The only thing is that the oppertunity I have to pick them up on Saturday.

I'm really curious about the quality and will keep you updated as I capture them to DVD.
