Tik, tik, tik, tik boom!

Wow, very powerfull visuals and great execution.

"Tik is the South African word for methamphetamine. It’s commonly smoked by placing meth crystals in a light bulb from which the metal threading has been removed. A lighter is used to heat the bulb and as the heat spreads through the thin glass, the crystals make a ticking, popping sound. Users named the drug ‘tik’ after this ticking sound. It’s spelled phonetically."

Sugata Mitra at Lift '07

Like they said on PSFK this is an interesting presentation on one of Sugata Mitra's experiments where he places a computer with internet access and no instructions or guidelines in remote and rural areas of India and observes how children interact with the machine and teach themselves computer literacy.

Linda Lolita Lulu La Hughes

While Homer J. Simspsons is my favorite male fictional character I must admit that Linda La Hughs it's female counterpart. I rediscovered the sitcom 'Gimme, Gimme, Gimme' and am enjoying every minute of it.

If you where to run into her and ask her for her astrological sign she would answer 'gorgeous' because she suffers from reversed body dismorphic disorder. Here are some quotes from the show.
Linda La Hughes:
I ain't phobic about 'omos, I just can't stand the sight of 'em!

Linda La Hughes:

I've had my best sex in the dark. Well blokes prefer it that way, don't they?

Linda La Hughes:

I wouldn't mind him putting his hand up my skirt and moving my lips, if you know what I mean!

Linda La Hughes:

Tom, I can't be a lesbian, I mean, look at me, I'm gorgeous!
Tom:
Loads of lezzers are gorgeous! Take...
[Thinks for a long time]
Tom:
...Velma from Scooby Doo.

Zippy:
Are you pleased to see me?
Linda La Hughes:
Of course I'm pleased to see you Zippy. It's just a shock, I haven't been this shocked since well I gave birth to you. I thought you were wind, I very nearly called you Fart.

Cheers

The world needs children's dreams.

The world needs children's dreams. At least Play-Doh thinks that. I agree and would like to add that we need to chill more and be like a kid every now and then. Funny art direction and good execution I guess. But then I don't know if this ad was targeted at children or adults.

"Love is not for cowards. If you don't have it, you're not invited." C.R.

"Well it's funny, man, because where do we go from this fucking place? I'll tell you where we go - we go to a bunch of kids right now who are going to be disenfranchised with this status-seeking, fucking corporate dribble that's happening right now. All this fucking no-name, no-talent, no imagination, no initiative, no courage bullshit that's out there right now. We need courage, man - my mantra lately has been "Love is not for cowards. If you don't have it, you're not invited." It's gonna get ugly, man, so we need to enjoy the glimpses of heaven when we get them, but in between those glimpses, the shit can get fucking ugly. You better have some fortitude and courage in your heart and your soul to weather the storm and stay in the flow, man."

In 2004 Chris Robinson, the Black Crowes forntman, had an interview with Hittin' the Note magazine. This interview is made available for you to read now at the Hittin' the Note website.

Cypress Tree

"Glory Halleluia,
I raise my cup up to ya
And I bow my head with utmost respect
And I think its only fair to warn you
That there's a storm that's coming up on you
And like a wind and the rain
My words are direct"

Uhm I just felt like quoting this! Read the whole lyrics here!

Uhmm, what can I say. I think great art direction, ahead of it's time, even though it's retro, the concept a bit weak.

This is creepy - REi Huggable™

What a creepy thing. I don't mind pillows, but furry pillows with lights?

"The inspiration of the REi Huggable™ design is of sunlight. The comforting rays of the sun are shared by people around the world. It is the essence of people’s everyday lives. Sunlight not only represents warmth and lightness, it also creates happiness, joyfulness, playfulness, intimacy and life. However, people often take this for granted, missing the sunlight only when it is unavailable. The concept is to create a light that captures the essences of sunlight as a reminder, condensing it into something that people can create a close relationship with. The product word REi, of REi Huggable™, comes from the sound of the word ray as the ray of sunlight, and to promote RE-inspiration from the sun."

Car = parking

I don't own a car and I don't even have driver license. But I do understand that paying for parking is a bitch and that you sometimes wish you could do something back to ease the pain and make it a different experience all together.

DRM down EMI's toilet!

Finally one company in the music industry starts understanding what's it all about when it comes down to music.

EMI to Sell Music Without Anticopying Software
By Ethan Smith and Nick Wingfield

In a major break with the music industry's longstanding antipiracy strategy, EMI Group PLC is set to announce today that it plans to sell significant amounts of its catalog without anticopying software, according to people familiar with the matter.

The London music company is to make its announcement at a London news conference featuring Apple Inc. Chief Executive Steve Jobs. EMI is to sell songs without the software -- known as digital rights management -- through Apple's iTunes Store and possibly through other online outlets.

DRM has been a contentious issue in online music sales. Record companies have insisted that ...
